Health care coverage of the pre-age 65 population in the United States reached its lowest point in 11 years in 2005, according to an October 2006 report from the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI). The percentage of non-elderly indidividuals with health coverage dropped from 82.4 percent in 2004 to 82.1 percent last year, the report noted. Most people with insurance get it through their workplace, according to the study, which reported that 62 percent of the population had employer-based coverage in 2005. This number was down from 64.4 percent in 1994. |
