Legislative Workshop Planned for June 10-11, 2008

The Public Sector HealthCare Roundtable has confirmed plans for the 2008 Legislative Workshop at the Phoenix Park Hotel which is conveniently located on Capitol Hill (520 North Capitol Street, N.W.). This year's meeting will begin with a luncheon at the hotel on Tuesday, June 10, followed by an issue briefing that will focus on the status of the Roundtable's short-term legislative priorities. Wednesday, June 11, will include Hill meetings with key health care decision-makers.

Among other issues, we will be discussing the need to overcome privacy concerns as they relate to pending health IT and e-prescribing legislation; ongoing efforts to advance a workable pathway to generic biopharmaceuticals; and pending proposals to encourage useful comparative effectiveness research. In each case, these represent opportunities to improve the quality of our health care system while achieving long-term savings for health care purchasers and plan participants. For more information, see the workshop agenda.
