Tell Lawmakers Your Thoughts About Coverage Proposals
The Senate Finance Committee on May 11 released its second set of health care reform proposals for public comment, with the focus on expanding coverage by changing the insurance market. The policy options presented address insurance tax credits, promotion of wellness by insurers, support for long-term care coverage and the controversial public health insurance option, among other proposals. Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Ranking Minority Member Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, are seeking public input on the proposals as part of their development of health care reform legislation. The first set of proposals, which was released on April 28, focused on measures aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the health care system. The third and final set is to be released before a May 20 Finance Committee meeting. The most recent set of policy options can be downloaded here. Comments may be directed to health_reform@finance-dem.senate.gov by May 22.
